Montboyer has a garage, a post office and a restaurant/bar - Le Pas Sage. At the centre of the village is a Church. Le Pas Sage is currently closed but is due to open in June 2011. Normally the bar is open from Monday to Saturday and offers a Plat du Jour every lunchtime and a selection of set menus for evening meals. The previous telephone number for Le Pas Sage was: 05 45 78 72 28 The post office is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am until 12noon. Chalais which is a 10 minute drive south of Montboyer offers several shops, bars/restaurants, a chateau and there is a weekly street market on a Monday morning. There is currently an Intermarché Supermarket and a Bricomarché DIY store. On the outskirts of Chalais, there is a new Lidl store. L'Effet Coiffure, a new hairdresser's which we highly recommend is situated opposite Intermarché. You will also find a Post Office and a Railway Station at Chalais plus a Tourist Information Office. At Aubeterre, you could visit a monolithic church, hire a canoe or kayak along the River Dronne plus there are several restaurants and bars available together with exclusive shops. There is also a Tourist Information Office.
Parcoul offers a water park, a boating lake plus a restaurant. Brossac also offer a boating lake and a restaurant. Aubeterre, Parcoul and Brossac are approximately a 15 minute drive. A little further is Angoulême, (35 mins), which is the Cartoon Capital of France, here you could visit St Pierre Cathedral, museums or if you prefer some shopping, there is a new underground shopping arcade called Champ de Mars plus there are numerous restaurants of all cuisines. There are also several of the big supermarkets on the outskirts of Angoulême as well as clothing stores and sports stores. In June 2009, the new Cartoon Museum opened in Angoulême and covers every type of cartoon, from Asterix and Garfield to the Japanese Anime style and of course, Tintin.
Montmoreau is just 10 minutes north of Montboyer. Here you will find a new Carrefour Market Supermarket and Fuel Station, several smaller shops, a post office, a Tourist Information Office, a cinema, a chateau and an excellent Pizzera Bar/Restaurant called Le Piment Rouge.
